Newsletter

May 2021

It’s has been quite a month for me so here as a little update of the latest news.

I know I haven’t blogged much, but things have been happening on the organisation and decluttering front.

Quick reminder that you probably need to file your tax return.  If you need any help with sorting out receipts and invoices and reconciling bank statements, CONTACT ME   https://sortingcat.org/contact-cat/

It seems that my initial attempts to build my website were ‘OK for an amateur’, but when you are doing this for the first time it is not surprising that you might make a mistake or two. Personally, I have always looked on tech stuff on a ‘need-to-know’ basis. It turns out that when you build a website, despite all the reassurance from the YouTube tutorials promising you that you can build your own professional-looking website in 20 minutes (!), you actually need to know quite a lot of stuff. There really is a whole new vocabulary that it’s like learning a new language altogether!

This month I gave in and hired a professional to help me out and, I think, the results look pretty good.

Thank you to Aftab Ahmed (https://www.linkedin.com/in/aftabiba/) for his expertise and patience.

I am still learning and this Newsletter is part of the learning curve.  I’m thinking of calling it The Sorter Outerer.  What do you think?

Let me know what you think in the comments below.  Also if there is any news you want me to update you on.

I have also been crocheting up a storm! OK, actually just a couple of items, but I have never made baby clothes before. Crochet newsYes, a friend of mine had a baby who is a pretty big boy right from the off and, it appears, that new baby clothes do not fit. This has also been a learning curve because who knew babies don’t pull their jumpers on over their heads themselves! So, I had to unpick and adapt it to have a larger head opening and buttons. It’s all a bit wonky, but I don’t think he will object much.

YAY! THE GYM IS OPEN AGAIN!

The best news. The Willesden Sports Centre is up and running again, Covid regulations allowing. It has been difficult to get in to some of the classes, especially Pilates, Body Balance and Zumba and getting a swim is very tricky. My housemate has been staying up ‘til the wee small hours to catch the early morning swim spots as soon as they become available on the app! That’s dedication for you.

Better (Butter) News

All these are signs that Life Goes On (if you don’t get this reference let me know in the comments), which is a great segway into the best news. Anyone who knows me will know that my blood is purple! To those who don’t know, I am a BTS fan and they released their latest single, Butter, last week and I love it. It’s even better than Dynamite, in my opinion, and I seem to be addicted to listening to it. If you don’t know what I’m talking about then check it out on YouTube.

The one thing I haven’t been able to do yet since the easing of Covid regulations, is to get to IKEA. Sainsbury’s have some quite nice new stationery and desk tidy items, that also seem to be paper-based and therefore sustainable. I particularly like the receipt organisers. I did get to the Habitat outlet store at O2 centre on Finchley Road. I’m not sure how long that will be there, but there were some good bargains for storage.

What’s Coming Up?

The Sorting Cat is preparing a Summer Campaign aiming to help small businesses get their office systems decluttered, organised and ready for the future.
